NEW !! No 605 - Aldfrith sceat with beast reverse

NEW !! No 605 - Aldfrith sceat with beast reverse Image

Aldfrith was King of Northumbria from 685 AD until his death in 704 or 705 AD.

This is a representation of the only sceat that is attributed to him.

The coin features a central boss surrounded by pellets on the obverse and the legend reads "ALDFRIDVS"

The reverse shows a mythical beast with the name of the ficticious moneyer GRVNAL above and below.

The flan on this coin is thicker than the original would have been.

Made from a modern die cut by a master craftsman to represent this type and hand struck from pewter. The die maker has used the name Grunal as the moneyer on the coin.
