No 495 Papal Bulla of Benedict XII

No 495 Papal Bulla of Benedict XII Image

A bulla was a seal attached to a papal edict. This particular example was obviously attached to a document issued by Pope Benedict XII who was Pope from 1334 until his death in 1342.

It was found by a detectorist within fifty yards of a small village church. It seems reasonable to conclude that this church received a document from Pope Benedict XII and subsequently threw away the attached seal or bull (Latin-bulla).
