Kings of Wessex, Alfred the Great AR Penny. London mint, struck ca 886 AD. Third Coinage, London monogram type. + ÃEFLFR-EDRE, diademed, draped bust right / inscription in three lines: GRVNAL / MONETA above & below large, central Londonia monogram, North 646.

Made from a modern die cut by a master craftsman to represent this type and hand struck from pewter. The die maker has used the name Grunal as the moneyer on the coin.
