This is a reprouction of a rare pewter money crown issued during the Williamite War in Ireland 1689-1691.
The new crown pieces showed the king on horseback on the obverse, in armour, with an upright drawn sword in his left hand. On the reverse were four crowned shields, cross wise, in the centre a crown with "CHRISTO, VICTORE, TRIVMPHO" and the date 1690. Halfcrowns and Crowns were issued in 1690 with the same dies as other gun money coins.
