No 691 - William the Conqueror Two Stars type Penny

No 691 is a coin found by our Brian Cross.  It is a William I (William the Conqueror) two stars type penny minted in York. It is Class BMC V; two stars type. The moneyer is Aleif and the coin was made between 1074 and 1077. The obverse shows a crowned and  diademed facing bust between two stars. The legend reads PILLEM REX AN. 

The reverse  shows a cross bottonee over quadrilateral with incurved sides; annulet in centre. The legend reads ALEF ON EFRPNC. It is Spink 1254, North 845.
