No 673: Silver Penny of Baldred

No 673: Silver Penny of Baldred: This is an excessively rare unpublished variant. We

have produced it slightly thicker than the original coin. It is a

non portrait Penny of Baldred, one of the Kings of Kent who ruled from 823-825 AD. It

was minted in Canterbury by OBA. 

The obverse reads +BALDRED REX around a cross. The reverse reads +OBA around a

cross. This is an unpublished variant of North 215, with forks in place of cross moline

ends on the reverse.
